The Last Mile in a Box promise
CommuterCart coordinates delivery without trapping the business inside one fulfillment provider.
Your sale remains your sale.
The relationship and history remain yours.
Your name stays in front of the customer.
You define cost, timing, handling, and service.
You are never trapped inside one delivery provider.
Last Mile in a Box is a merchant-controlled commerce and delivery operating system, and Layer 2 of CommuterCart, built around TransportAI and U.S. Patent 10,740,716 B1. It can coordinate route-aligned local commuters, merchant employees, dedicated drivers, and approved outside carriers without making any one carrier the owner of the merchant relationship.
Merchant Protection Standard, under development
Last Mile in a Box is being designed around clear ownership and fast recovery, not support handoffs and unexplained decisions.
One entry point and one accountable case owner for dispatch, delivery, refunds, and billing, without sending the merchant between teams.
The merchant can take care of its customer immediately, while the carrier claim and reimbursement remain a separate, trackable process.
The system is designed to identify assignment failures, late pickup, route stalls, wrong handoffs, failed delivery, and missing proof before the customer has to complain.
Package confirmation, pickup verification, timestamps, location events, delivery evidence, recipient PIN or signature, and special handling can travel with the record.
Evidence and transparency
A merchant should not need multiple portals, statements, and support calls to reconstruct one order.
Merchant order number, CommuterCart ID, carrier ID, quote, charge, timestamps, status history, messages, proof, refund, and carrier credit belong in one downloadable record.
Accepted quote, delivery fee, tip, tax, cancellation charge, refund, credit, and adjustment remain visible at the individual delivery level.
Dispatch, tracking, payments, messaging, API, and carrier availability should be visible through a public status page with incident updates.
Start with the tools you have, or make CommuterCart your operating system.
Add delivery without replacing the tools your business already uses.
Run checkout, orders, customers, inventory, and delivery in one complete system.
Open carrier standard
Last Mile in a Box is designed to make delivery capacity replaceable, measurable, and accountable, not to make the business dependent on one carrier.
Coordinate route-aligned commuters, merchant employees, dedicated local drivers, and approved third-party carriers in one operating system. Outside carriers remain replaceable overflow capacity, not the owner of the order.
Identify preferred drivers, report incidents, exclude a driver from future store pickups, and require the right vehicle, package care, or handoff method.
A documented sandbox, production timeline, duplicate-order protection, webhook retries, version notices, disruption alerts, and exportable test results are part of the planned standard.

Implementation answers
Straight answers about setup, costs, delivery, and the optional POS.
Four implementation paths · Two commission models
The first three paths add CommuterCart to an existing business workflow and carry a 5% commission calculated on the gross cumulative value of each delivery order. The licensed custom CommuterCart POS carries 0% commission on all sales, including delivery orders. Applicable delivery fees remain separate under every path.
Path 1 · No developer needed
Create delivery requests from a dedicated workspace while keeping your current ordering and checkout process.
5% of each gross cumulative delivery-order total
Path 2 · Digital storefront
Make products orderable through the CommuterCart customer marketplace or embed menus, ordering, delivery quotes, address capture, and delivery windows into your own branded website.
5% of each gross cumulative delivery-order total
Path 3 · Integrate your POS
Connect Toast, Square, or another compatible ordering system so eligible orders can flow to CommuterCart without duplicate entry.
5% of each gross cumulative delivery-order total
Path 4 · Featured full system
Make CommuterCart your technology partner with checkout, inventory, customers, analytics, orders, and delivery operating as one merchant-controlled system.
0% commission on all sales, including delivery orders
The custom CommuterCart POS is the featured full-system path inside Last Mile in a Box. It is being developed to make delivery happen automatically from the same workflow used for checkout, inventory, customer management, and reporting—with 0% commission on every sale, including delivery orders. Ron's Market is the planned first implementation.
The moment a customer completes a purchase at your register or online, a CommuterCart delivery order is created automatically. No manual entry. No copy-paste. No third-party handoff.
Merchants using the licensed custom CommuterCart POS pay 0% commission on in-store sales, pickup orders, and delivery orders. Applicable delivery fees and the separate POS license still apply.
The CommuterCart POS handles inventory tracking, order history, customer management, and delivery analytics in one place — purpose-built for local retail and food businesses.
The custom POS is designed around the merchant’s real departments, taxes, inventory, compliance, reporting, and staff workflows, with delivery native rather than bolted on.
Your store, your brand, your checkout. Customers never see CommuterCart — they see you. The delivery layer is invisible infrastructure.
TransportAI matches the order to the best available driver in real time — CC Commuter for inter-city, CC Local for short-haul, CC Direct for urgent runs. No decision required from you.

Custom pricing for enterprise volume
“Gross cumulative delivery-order total” means the full merchandise and service value accumulated in that delivery order before the separate delivery fee. Delivery fees (CC Commuter, CC Local, CC Direct) apply under every path at the rates posted on the Pricing page. The custom CommuterCart POS is separately licensed.
